A cryotherapy facial, sometimes called a cryo facial or frotox, uses an applicator chilled to −6 °C, moved over the skin in short, controlled passes. At Vearitea Wellness Spa it follows a cleanse and gentle exfoliation, and the whole facial takes 60 minutes. Skin is left feeling tight, toned and refreshed.
It suits anyone whose skin looks puffy, flushed or tired, and anyone who wants a fresher look before an event without needles or recovery time. Many clients book it the day before a wedding, a photo shoot or a big meeting. The cooling may temporarily reduce the look of puffiness and redness, and the effect fades over days to weeks.
At Vearitea Wellness Spa the cooling step is the center of this facial rather than an add-on, and the cold comes from a chilled applicator that touches the skin, not a nitrogen vapor wand. A trained skincare specialist controls every pass, and sessions are $325 at our Hulen Mall spa.
Cold narrows surface blood vessels for a while, so the face can look less puffy and more defined for the rest of the day.
Cooling soothes skin that feels warm or irritated and may temporarily take the edge off visible redness.
Skin is often left feeling firm, smooth and awake straight after the session.
Makeup can go on right away, so the facial fits easily before work, dinner or an event.
The applicator is chilled to −6 °C and keeps moving, so no single spot stays cold for long. Cold makes small surface blood vessels narrow. As the skin warms up again they widen and circulation returns, which is why the face can look less puffy and feel tight and refreshed after a session.
Cool temperatures also feel soothing on skin that is warm or flushed, so many clients say their skin feels calmer afterwards. The effect is cosmetic and temporary. It fades over days to weeks, so a typical starting point is a series of four to six sessions, often one to two weeks apart, then maintenance every three to five weeks; your specialist will tailor the plan. A cryotherapy facial is not a medical treatment and is not intended to treat any skin condition.
Arrive with clean skin if you can. Your specialist reviews a short intake form covering cold sensitivity, pregnancy and any recent fillers, Botox or peels. Your face is cleansed and gently exfoliated so the cooling step works on a clean, smooth surface. Point out any areas of redness or puffiness you would like us to focus on.
The chilled applicator glides over the face in short passes and never rests in one spot. It feels cold and tingly, a little like holding an ice cube near your skin, and the tingling fades within minutes. Your specialist checks in with you throughout and can lighten the passes at any point. The facial takes about 60 minutes.
Skin may look slightly pink for up to an hour and feel tight and cool. There is no downtime, and makeup can go on right away. The refreshed look is strongest in the first day or two and fades over days to weeks, so if you are starting a series, book your next visit before you leave; your specialist will suggest the spacing.

Morning puffiness, a salty dinner, a long flight or a short night can all leave the face looking swollen. Cooling is one of the simplest ways to take the edge off that look for the day, which is why many clients book a cryotherapy facial before events. If puffiness is persistent, sudden or on one side only, see your physician first, because it can have a medical cause.
Frotox is a nickname for a cryotherapy facial that blends “frozen” and “Botox”. The name is catchy but misleading: a cooling facial does not relax muscles the way an injectable does. What it can do is leave skin feeling tight and refreshed and temporarily reduce the look of puffiness, with no needles and no downtime.
Please tell us before you book if any of these apply to you:

For many people a cooling facial is a comfortable way to temporarily reduce the look of puffiness and redness and leave skin feeling tight and refreshed. It is cosmetic, not a medical treatment, and it is not suitable for everyone: skip it with cold urticaria, Raynaud’s, pregnancy or broken skin. Results fade over days to weeks, so a series of sessions is recommended.
Our cryotherapy facial is $325 for a 60-minute session at Vearitea Wellness Spa in Hulen Mall. That includes cleansing, gentle exfoliation and the controlled −6 °C cooling step. Affirm financing and major cards are accepted, so you can spread the cost of a series.
It depends on the type of cryotherapy. At Vearitea Wellness Spa, the cryotherapy facial is $325 for 60 minutes, and the body cryotherapy session is $420 for 60 minutes. For the body, cavitation and cryotherapy combo sessions are $540 each, and bundles of 6, 10 or 12 sessions lower the per-session price.
The appointment itself takes about 60 minutes. The refreshed, less puffy look is strongest for the first day or two and usually fades over days to a couple of weeks. A typical starting point is a series of four to six sessions, often one to two weeks apart, then maintenance every three to five weeks; your specialist will tailor the plan. Results vary from person to person.
A cryo facial is good for a quick refresh with no downtime. Many clients book it to take the edge off morning puffiness, to calm skin that looks flushed, or to look more awake before an event. It leaves skin feeling tight, toned and refreshed. It is a cosmetic treatment and is not intended to treat acne, rosacea or any other skin condition.
For a facial, the common effects are mild and short-lived: temporary pinkness, a tingling or numb feeling, and a cold sensation that fades within minutes. Results are temporary, so a series is needed for a consistent look. It is not suitable for people with cold urticaria, Raynaud’s or other cold sensitivity, during pregnancy, or with broken or infected skin.

No. The cold is noticeable and you will feel some tingling, but it is brief because the applicator keeps moving and never stays in one spot. Many clients find it refreshing rather than uncomfortable, and the tingling fades within minutes. Tell your specialist at any time if you would like a short break or a lighter pass.
Yes. There is no downtime, so you can apply makeup straight away and go back to work or out to dinner. Skin may look slightly pink for up to an hour. Because the skin is freshly cleansed and exfoliated, many clients like how makeup sits afterwards, which is one reason the facial is popular before events.
We do not perform cryotherapy facials during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. Ask us about gentler options, and check with your physician before booking any spa treatment while pregnant. The same caution applies if you have cold urticaria, Raynaud’s or another medical condition that cold could affect.
