What cellulite is, and what it is not

Cellulite is the dimpled or rippled look that shows up most often on the thighs, hips, and buttocks, and sometimes on the upper arms or abdomen. It is very common. It appears on people of every size and fitness level, and it is not a sign that anything is wrong. Skin with cellulite is normal skin.

The texture comes from the way the layers beneath the skin are arranged. Fibrous bands anchor the skin to the tissue below. Where those bands pull down and the tissue between them pushes up, the surface takes on an uneven look. Skin thickness, elasticity, hydration, genetics, hormones, and age all shape how visible it is on a given day.

That structure matters for one reason. No cream, wrap, or spa device changes the anchoring bands themselves. What a non-invasive treatment can work with is the surface: how smooth, firm, and even the skin looks over the area. That is a real goal. It is also a limited one, and we would rather say so up front.

The honest answer on what no treatment can promise

No non-invasive treatment can promise to remove cellulite. None can promise a lasting change in texture, a particular degree of improvement, or the same result for two different people. Anyone who tells you otherwise is describing a hope, not a service.

What a well-run cosmetic session can offer is more modest. It may temporarily improve the look of skin texture. It may make an area appear a little smoother or firmer for a period of time. Many clients notice a difference. Some notice very little. Results vary, and they fade without maintenance.

We would rather clients hear this first. The treatment is the same either way. The expectation is what changes the experience.

What ultrasonic cavitation may do for texture

Ultrasonic cavitation uses a handheld applicator that sends low-frequency sound waves into the tissue beneath the skin. Most clients describe the feeling as gentle warmth and a faint hum. There are no needles and usually no downtime.

For the look of cellulite, the point is the surface. Over a series of sessions, many clients notice that the treated area looks smoother and a little more even. The effect is cosmetic. It does not change the fibrous bands, and it does not change the number on a scale. A full session is 60 minutes, and the 30-minute express version suits a maintenance visit. You can read the step-by-step on our body contouring page.

Cavitation tends to show its best side on areas where the skin still has reasonable elasticity. Where skin is very loose, the smoothing may be harder to see. We will say so during the consultation rather than sell a series that is unlikely to satisfy you.

What body cryotherapy may do

Body cryotherapy takes the opposite approach. A chilled applicator is moved over the area in brief, controlled passes. The chill lives in the applicator; your skin is cooled only briefly at the surface during each pass, and the session is designed to be comfortable. Clients often describe it as bracing at first and then pleasant.

Cooling may temporarily firm the look of skin and reduce the look of puffiness. On the thighs and buttocks, many clients find that a cryo pass leaves the surface looking tighter for a time. The effect is temporary by design. Skin returns to its baseline, which is why a series spaced over several weeks is a typical starting point rather than a single visit.

We often pair the two. A cavitation session followed by cryo in the same visit is our combo, and many clients prefer it for texture because warmth and cooling each address the surface in a different way. Details are on our cryo body sculpting page.

Why results are temporary, and why they vary

Skin is living tissue. Whatever a session does to the surface, the body gradually returns things to where they were. That is not a flaw in the treatment. It is how skin works. The practical result is that the look you may achieve with a series needs maintenance to hold.

Variation comes from the inputs. Age, skin thickness, elasticity, hydration, hormones, sleep, and the amount of tissue in the area all shape what you see. Two clients can have an identical series and come away with different results. We cannot predict yours in advance, and we will not pretend to.

Lighting and angle matter more than most people expect. Cellulite is far more visible under overhead light and when standing than under soft light or when lying down. Photos taken in the same spot, in the same light, at the same time of day are the fairest way to judge a series. A quick glance in a different mirror is the least fair.

A sensible plan and what it costs

A typical starting point is a series of six to eight sessions on one area, spaced out over several weeks, followed by occasional maintenance. Single sessions at our Fort Worth spa are $400 for cavitation, $420 for body cryotherapy, and $540 for the combo. The express 30-minute body session is $245.

A series costs less per visit. Our body packages run from eight treatments at $2,795 to twenty-four at $6,995, and the multi-session cavitation plus cryo bundles start at six for $3,095. Affirm financing is available. The full list is on our packages page, and we are glad to tell you in person which plan fits the area and the goal, even if that means a smaller one.

We also want to be clear about what a plan is not. It is not a replacement for sleep, hydration, movement, and sun care, all of which shape how skin looks over time. The treatments work alongside those habits, not instead of them.

Who should talk to a physician first

Our body services are cosmetic services, not medical care. If you are pregnant, have a pacemaker, have cold urticaria, have an active skin infection, or have had recent surgery, talk to your physician before booking. The same is true if you have a condition that affects circulation or skin sensation in the area.

If the texture of an area has changed suddenly, is painful, or is dimpled in a single spot rather than across a region, a physician is the right first step. Those are not cellulite questions, and a spa is not the place to answer them.

We are inside Hulen Mall, with free parking. If you are not sure whether body treatments make sense for you, ask us before you book. We would rather send you home with honest information than book a series you do not need.

Questions about this guide

Can cavitation or cryotherapy get rid of cellulite?

No. No non-invasive treatment removes cellulite. These sessions may temporarily improve the look of skin texture in the treated area. Results vary from person to person and need maintenance to hold.

How long does the smoother look last?

It varies. The effect is temporary and fades gradually as skin returns to its baseline, which is why maintenance visits are part of a sensible plan. We cannot give a fixed number, and we would be wary of anyone who does.

Which is better for cellulite, cavitation or cryo?

Neither is better in every case. Cavitation uses low-frequency sound waves that most clients feel as gentle warmth, and it tends to suit areas with reasonable elasticity. Cryotherapy uses cooling, and many clients find it leaves skin looking firmer for a time. Many choose the combo. We will suggest one after seeing the area.
